Developing Standard 3.2

Standard 3.4 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers requires educators to plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies. Without extensive thought and pre-planning quality learning will not happen. Affective teaching requires innovative thinking to put ideas into action and help enhance learning and education ( Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, 2018).

QUTs professional development Innovative Thinking for Teachers and School Leaders highlights a range of topics:

  • identifying real-world problems
  • collaborating with others
  • collecting and synthesising information
  • seeking solutions(Queensland University of Technology, 2019)

The content learned through this professional development will ensure I have the skills to plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies. Innovative Thinking for Teachers and School Leaders is held from the 16th of March 2020 to the 12th of April 2020 online via blackboard, QUTs online learning platform.
