Developing Standard 2.6
Standard 2.6 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers requires educators to implement teaching strategies for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to expand curriculum learning. Students should be taught how to use ICT and the positive aspects it has for teaching in education ( Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, 2018).
I struggle with using ICT. Professional development held online through QUT could benefit me greatly in meeting Standard 2.6. Creating Apps in the Classroom is a professional development held from the 30th of March 2020 through to the 26th of April 2020 via blackboard, QUT's online learning platform (Queensland University of Technology, 2019). Technology is embedded in our everyday life; the importance of teaching it has never been more evident. QUT's course covers a range of topics around creating an educational app. By attending this professional development, I would gain skills required in implementing teaching strategies for using ICT and expand curriculum learning opportunities for students.
