Description
Demonstrate a range of verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to support student engagement.
Rationale: MTS503 Assessment 1 Sample
This excerpt is from my assessment one case study for the unit Managing the Learning Environment. Through the research in this unit I was able to discover, understand, and explain different modes of effective communication, all of which I would use in front of students during placement.
The excerpt mentions non-verbal cues such as hand signals that I would use to seize attention at the beginning of every class. Patience and positive reinforcement met every student who attempted to participate in class discussions or reading exercises. I welcomed students explaining concepts to each other as long as they practised turn-based speaking and good manners. Every student was encouraged and thanked for their contributions and ideas.
