Code of Ethics
Understand and apply the key principles described in codes of ethics and conduct for the teaching profession.
This page provides evidence for meeting Standard 7 (specifically sub-standard 7.1) at a graduate level.
These artefacts are my Mentor report comments that demonstrate my professionalism as described in codes of ethics and conduct for the teaching profession. I selected these particular artefacts as they reflect my identity and actions as a teacher which are consistent with the goals, values and principles outlined in the Code of Ethics (Teachers Code of Professional Practice, 2008).
I learnt that to achieve high-level outcomes for my students, my conduct must reflect my belief in the ethical obligation of efficiency and effectiveness for quality teaching. I have also learnt that ethical principles are fundamental to good professional practice to ensure the right decision is made in difficult situations and within the spirit of the law (Whitton et al., 2016). This artefact exemplifies the 7.1 AITSL standard as a teacher I have shown that I am accountable for my actions and proven that my ethical obligations will always apply.
To improve this area to move towards the next career stage I believe that it is not only my obligation to stick to the principles of the Code but having awareness of circumstances surrounding social and cultural factors and the effects of my behaviour and decisions.
