Clearance certifications

These artefacts are my certifications for compliance with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements of the teaching profession. I selected these particular artefacts as they show my understand the relevant legislative, administrative and organisational policies and processes required for teachers.

I learnt that as an employee of the public sector, it is critical that I conduct myself professionally at all times in order to avoid bringing the teaching profession and the larger public sector into disrepute. This artefact exemplifies the 7.2 AITSL standard as to comply with the relevant legislative and organisational policies and processes required to become a teacher, I have familiarised myself with the

  • The federal Disability Discrimination Act (1992) (DDA) which makes it illegal to discriminate against a person with disability. Disability discrimination is when a person is treated unfairly because of their disability.
  • Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 (NSW) which ensures that all institutions responsible for the care and protection of children provide an environment that is free of violence and exploitation and provide services that foster their health, developmental needs, spirituality, self-respect and dignity.
  • Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 (NSW) - which maintains the professional standards for teachers.

To comply with relevant administrative requirements of the teaching profession, I have made every effort to gain several clearance certifications as below:

  • COVID-19 infection control training - Commissioned by The Department of Health, this certification covers the fundamentals of infection prevention and control (IPC) for COVID-19. Certification includes:
  • First Aid and CPR course - Primary assessment and CPR on adults and infants
  • ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training - Approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). Certification includes knowledge of allergy and other immune diseases
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC). Certification includes National Police Check (criminal history record check) and clearance to work with children valid for 5 years
  • Child Protection Awareness training - to recognise and respond to suspected risk of harm to children resulting from parent or carer concerns.

To improve this area to move towards the next career stage I will ensure my certifications remain up to date and current by completing refresher training as required.
