Description
Description:
The Growth and Fixed Mindset activity, involves explicit teaching of what both mindsets consist of, role-play during the lesson to demonstrate how they relate to the classroom environment, followed by a discussion of the mindset that is more beneficial. The students then wrote a definition of a growth and fixed mindset independently, and coloured in the pictures.
Focus area 4.4:
The artefact also meets the focus area 4.4, which is the maintenance of student safety. This artefact adheres to that focus area, as the modeling of a growth and fixed mindset leads to improved wellbeing, and safety within the school environment. This is important for autonomy within the class, as students need to have healthy wellbeing methods modelled and ingrained to ensure they reach their optimal levels of learning. This also leads to self-regulation, an important skill to mediate their negative attitudes, if present. I also believe this area has developed over the duration of each placement, as my confidence grew. I believe student safety involves being constantly aware of the classroom, and understanding the students motivations and triggers. I believe maintaining student safety occurs in many ways, and I believe I am able to maintain student safety. I would like to attain professional development courses to learn new straitening to maintain safety.
