About Child Protection

In New South Wales, all teachers are required to undertake mandatory child protection training annually as stated in section 4.2.1 in the Child Protection Policy: Responding to and reporting students at risk of harm (NSW Department of Education, 2018). All teachers are responsible for recognising and responding to any safety, welfare or wellbeing issues of the children in their care and are mandatory reporters of these issues (NSW Department of Education, 2019).

Working with Children Check - Volunteer

About Working With Children Check (WWCC)

This is my volunteer WWCC. I hold this check as I currently volunteer at my daughters school and is a requirement for anyone who is working or volunteering whose "role involves direct physical or face-to-face contact with children" (Service NSW, n.d.).

National Crime Check

About National Crime Check

This check identifies any relevant criminal history information such as convictions. A criminal check is done by the Department of Education during employment screening but supplying your own check can help fast track your application for employment.

Further checks and clearances needed

Paid WWCC - This is the same as a volunteer check but requires a fee when needed for paid employment.

First-Aid and Anaphylaxis Certificates - Not all teachers in NSW are required to have these certificates, as stated in section 4.2.1 of Student Health in NSW Public Schools: A summary and consolidation of policy (Department of Education, 2017), but I feel they are necessary as part of my duty of care.
