Describe a broad range of strategies for involving parents/carers in the educative process.
Parent engagement in the learning environment
The following artefact is an exerpt from a study submitted in August 2020 for MTP503, highlighting the importance of developing partnerships between educators and families through the creation of a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. The study suggests that teachers can actively encourage participation in the learning environment by offering volunteering opportunities such as reading, cooking or sharing cultural knowledge.

Year 1 HASS Unit of Inquiry
The following artefact is a Year 1 HASS unit of inquiry submitted in November 2021 for MTP504, which investigated continuity and change in place and space and the use of historical sources as evidence. The summative assessment piece for this unit involved interviewing an older person to give a comparative perspective on daily life in the past. Such learning tasks may encourage the engagement and participation of parents and other family members in the education process of their child.

Parent and Carer engagement via SeeSaw
Teachers and support staff across my current school site utilise the SeeSaw program to share information about learning experiences of the whole class or individual students by uploading images, videos or completed learning tasks. Teacher feedback to learning tasks uploaded by students is visible to their parents and carers, and parents and carers are also able to give feedback to items posted.

Parent engagement in learning activities
My current school site is proactive in encouraging the participation and engagement of parents and carers in learning activities by inviting volunteers to join classes to support activities such as cooking, gardening, listening to reading, excursions, and interschool sporting events.
