Meeting the Standard
1. During my first practicum I demonstrated a broad knowledge of strategies that could be used to evaluate my teaching program and improve student learning of the Geometry unit. My mentor provided specific and productive feedback at the completion of each of lesson regarding my strategies, activities, student engagement and performance. This feedback enabled me to reflect and modify future sequential lessons to improve student learning experiences and outcomes. The final mentor feedback reflects this approach to evaluating and improving my teaching program.
‘Anita pays particular attention to the planning stage, submitting lessons plans of a high standard. Resources have been aligned to support the concept being taught. Anita explicitly models concepts, shares and discusses topics and allows students to independently be successful’.
Next Steps
1. In partnership with my mentor, I will continue to gain knowledge on how to improve student learning through participation in professional learning community meetings, curriculum and lesson planning sessions and 1:1 classroom-based discussions.
