Reflection

The development of my digital professional portfolio is a dynamic process and I find myself constantly updating and adding elements as I progress throughout my degree. Initially, I found the platform overwhelming, however, with practice I have come to appreciate the layout and flexibility that is offered through Mahara.

I find that the assignments are practical and contribute to a strong, professional portfolio which can be used to evidence my learning and professional development for future employment or professional collaboration. I appreciate the convenience of having all certificates and evidence stored in the one place that can be accessed from any of my devices. I am enjoying connecting with peers and sharing ideas or supporting each other in understanding the technical aspects.

To enhance the quality of my teaching portfolio, I endeavour to use a greater variety of evidence including videos, sound recordings or evidence of teaching in practice. Additionally, I would like to make time to upload artefacts that aren’t related to assessments in order to personalise my portfolio so that it is reflective of my personal traits such as journals that I find relevant, and work or images that I am proud to share. I plan to dedicate a page or collection to teaching or lesson ideas that I would like to try, similar to a Pinterest layout. Overall, I am pleased with the development of my portfolio and my growing capability to navigate the online system. I appreciate that this is a work in progress and am learning to accept that it is okay that some of my evidence is far from perfect at this stage.
