Meeting the Standard

1.  With the increased use of ICT in learning and teaching, I have paid particular attention to school policies and information provided to parents with regards to student safety and responsibilities in using technology within the school environment.  Following school policy, each student electing to participate in an ICT learning environment is required to sign an annual ePal agreement outlining the rules and regulations for use of iPad and laptop devices. Furthermore, the Department of Education requires permission to collect student information to accommodate third-party web-based service providers such as Reading Eggs, Mathletics, Manga High, Cool Maths Games; that may be used in the learning process.

With the appropriate consents and agreements in place, I am able to utilise ICT within my lesson plans and create engaging learning experiences for students.  In order to ensure student safety when using technology within the classroom, I ensure students comply with age guidelines when using online applications, regularly discuss the importance of minimising student online footprints through cyber safe practices.

Next Steps

1.  I will continue to update and familiarise myself with school-based and departmental policies pertaining to ICT in the learning environment and participate actively in e-learning communities to ensure best practice is achieved in ICT safety within the classroom.
