Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and effective teaching strategies
As part of the Science unit of my degree, I created a unit of work for Year 4 that used diagnostic and formative data to inform teaching and learning.
The diagnostic data helped to identify possible misconceptions, engage students in the topic, and present the unit goals. Throughout the unit there were opportunities for formative data to be collected to assess how students were progressing towards the outcomes, such as exit slips and discussion circles.
For the future, I would like to have more experience in implementing these plans, and particularly in the area of Science, to be able to reflect on what works practically in the classroom to ensure my sequences are realistic and engaging.
