I completed my Diploma of Children’s Services in 2012 and a Certificate 3 in Individual Support (Disability) in 2017. Through these tertiary education courses I have gained skills and knowledge to support children with challenging behaviours, and through my employment in the early childhood and disability sector I continue to build upon my skills and develop my practices in managing challenging behaviour. I feel that I am able to manage challenging behaviour by establishing and negotiating clear expectations with students and address discipline issues promptly, fairly and respectfully. However, I believe that there is always room to grow and learn as an educator. Moreover, some time as passes since I completed my Diploma and Certificate 3, so there is a need for me to refresh and develop new skills in regards to managing challenging behaviour. It is critical that as an educator I acquire the most up-to-date knowledge in regards to best practice in the early childhood context. Participating in this class will provide me with evidence towards AITSL standard 4.3 and support my professional learning and development.

I could find additional evidence towards this standard by seeking written feedback from the Team Leaders at my place of employment regarding my behaviour management skills.
