The artefact selected here is an extract from an assignment completed in unit ECE220, which I am currently completing in SP3, 2020. This artefact demonstrates a deep understanding of the role of curriculum, assessment and reporting within the teaching and learning cycle.

I believe this evidence demonstrates my proficiency to meet AITSL Standard 2.3 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting as it shows that I have a comprehensive understanding of how curriculum, assessment and reporting are critical components of the teaching and learning cycle and how they can be used to inform learning sequences and lesson plans. In this extract I recognise the key steps in the teaching and learning cycle and how assessment is used throughout. In this report I identify the role and importance of reporting and its links to the Curriculum Achievement Standards.

Arthur et al., (2018) identifies that assessment is a critical part of the curriculum planning process and I believe that this deep understanding of assessment, curriculum and reporting will support me to become an effective teacher. In my upcoming Professional Experience I will get the opportunity to make use of the knowledge I have gained of curriculum, assessment and reporting through this assignment to design learning sequences and lesson plans. By putting theory into practice I will have the opportunity to reflect on and improve my knowledge and skills in this area. It will be critical that I engage with my mentor teacher to seek feedback on my knowledge and implementation so that I may improve in this area.
