Taking Action

All teachers need to continue their development past their university studies. Churchill, 2018 states that “in order to be effective, teachers must also continue to be learners”. My degree will not be the end of my learning journey. Teachers need to keep up-to-date with knowledge and awareness of topics and issues that are relevant both locally and globally (Churchill, 2018). To remain a registered teacher, educators need to provide evidence of ongoing professional learning in accordance with the AITSL framework. Churchill, 2018 suggests that there are multiple pathways along educators' learning journeys such as Professional learning communities within a school, professional associations outside of a teacher's school of employment, certificate level courses and qualifications, and postgraduate study.

These Focus Areas are the areas that are yet to be developed: 3.5, 3.7, and 4.3.
