Dance-Making Choreography

The artefact selected for Standard 6.2, is a hands-on dance-making and analysis experience conducted at Curtin University. The assessment took place in semester 1, 2019, the unit the assessment is a component of Performing Arts for Educators. The assessment allowed me to explore and engage in the dance-making process within drama and art construction. The activity allowed me to study dance and specifically dance within the Australian curriculum. The concepts explored include; making meaning through the exploration of space and movement to construct my dance interpretation of a song (ACARA, n.d). Exploring Arts as a form of expression and body movement to build and portray meaning was an essential element of this assessment. Following the Australian curriculum, I actively explored the concepts of dance through time and relationship with space and body. I engaged in working towards standard AITSL 6.2 through the skills I actively implemented into my dance and the techniques utilised to choreograph my dance routine. Once my dance was completed, I critically analysed my practice as required by the assessment. After an analysis of my dancing, I was able to increase my awareness of art vocabulary and structures and elements of dance.
