Description

As a teacher, there are fundamental professional and legal (contemporary) responsibilities which I need to consistently uphold in my teaching practice. The Graduate level Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, details the core responsibilities I must adhere to in the formative stage of my teaching career.

Overall, the core responsibilities are: to help my students develop into successful 21st Century learners; differentiate pedagogy to ensure inclusive education; maintain expert content and pedagogical knowledge; practice effective teaching, to maximize students' learning; practice ethical conduct and create an ethical classroom; duty of care; effectively assess students' work, in a fair and timely manner; ongoing participation in teacher professional development; and engage in a professional manner with the entire school community (Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership, 2011, pp. 10-22).
