“As a NSW public school teacher, you have a responsibility to ensure that students gain the knowledge and skills they require to become effective learners and ultimately effective and responsible citizens and to understand and appreciate the values and beliefs supported by Australian society”. (New South Wales Government. 2017. Professional Responsibilities for Teachers. Retrieved from https://education.nsw.gov.au/about-us/jobs-and-opportunities/school-careers/teachers/professional-responsibilities-for-teachers)
Above is a description of the responsibilities for a teacher within the state of NSW. It is the establishment of a teachers role within the education system. But what is not described here, is that sometimes as a teacher your role extends beyond that. For example, one aspect of a teacher’s role is to treat students as equals. This may require a teacher to provide clean/appropriate clothing, hygienic products, school supplies, etc. to meet this requirement.
When I am fully qualified that will be my motivator and goal throughout my career. To go the extra mile to meet all legislative and professional requirements in order to provide every student with an individualised, developmental and educated experience. To be the teacher that is most remembered throughout a students education, because I will provide something for them to enhance their learning experience.
Teaching is like growing trees. If given the right nutrients and care, they will grow up to be big, strong trees ready for all that life will throw at them. It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide the skills, knowledge and experiences that will prepare their students for life (Churchill, 2019)
