Hi Jason,

Your DPP is so engaging! I love the images, videos and quote across your wall. Your introduction and philosophy show how passionate you are about being an educator - the fact you also included information about what a philosophy is under your philosophy shows how keen you are to help others learn. The content throughout your collections is very interesting and they all provide great information.

I feel like you have put together not only a DPP, but a great go-to page for resources for others. Just fabulous.

Teaching needs to be fun. If the teaching is fun, then the lesson is fun for the kids as well. When the teacher is having fun they are in the right state of mind and that state is infectious. If the teacher is having fun it is easier and more likely for the students to have fun.

The buzzword for today is "gamification." It means what it sounds like, you try and turn as much as you can into a game. Our instinct, how children can be observed to learn "in the wild," is learning by play and observation. Kids develop games through which they gain skills and knowledge. This is what they expect from school.

And it is possible. Maybe not in all cases, but most instruction can be turned into a game. And if it is not a game, then it has to be what I call semi-play or as most call it, art.

Games and art - the prong to engage students and keep them entertained and learning.
